In October 2018, David Kerr’s first movie was released.
It became the year’s highest-grossing English language comedy at the international box office.
Johnny English Strikes Again stars the legendary Rowan Atkinson and double Oscar-winner Emma Thompson.
The Washington Post called it “hilarious…timeless slapstick."
Forbes said it's “a genuine laugh riot.”
According to L.A. Weekly, “Director David Kerr engineers Atkinson’s intricate routines with clockwork precision.”
In 2019, David returned to commercials, with ads for Quickbooks, Rockshore Cider, The National Lottery, webuyanycar.com and a US/global campaign for Spotify.
Previous commercials include gun control spot Playthings (AICP Award) and Estimation Nation (BTAA Award).
David honed his comedy chops as a TV director, winning the Best Comedy BAFTA for sketch show That Mitchell and Webb Look (BBC).
He has worked with some of Britain’s top talent including Steve Coogan, Olivia Colman, Matt Lucas and Gemma Arterton.
As lead director of student house-share comedy Fresh Meat (C4/Hulu), David gave Jack Whitehall his first acting job.
The show won 6 awards, including the RTS Award for Best Comedy.
David also helmed all six films in the first season of the multi award-winning anthology Inside No.9 (BBC/Hulu) - and returned to direct two films in the fourth season, including series-opener Zanzibar, starring two Rory Kinnears.
David grew up in Belfast.
He started acting and directing plays at Cambridge University, where he graduated with a first class degree in Classics.
