Lauren Midwinter is a London-based director who works in film and commercials, but her work has spanned mediums including art, music and dance films.
Whether it's crafting a character with actors or helping people tell their stories in documentary form, Lauren loves working with talent. Thanks to her immersive director training at Drama Centre London (Central St. Martins) she spent every single day for three years directing talent. It was a unique experience which equipped her with the skills to encourage talent to feel comfortable and give honest, open performances.
Her work has a detailed, often stylistic, visual tone; it can sometimes be an overt look, like for a commercial, or a subtle heightened moment in a documentary. It's this always-curious creative approach to filmmaking that gives her work a balance of realism and fantasy.
Lauren's aim is always to create imaginative concepts that take you somewhere unexpected. To turn the ordinary on its head, even if it's a subtle turn.
She has created work for household names and luxury brands such as Swarovski, Samsung, British Fashion Council, Speedo, NatWest, Marc Jacobs and NARS.
Lauren has just finished writing a pilot for a six-part ensemble TV drama and is in development on a bittersweet short film.
You'll usually find her drinking tea. Or vodka.
