Robin Takao D’Oench is a writer/director/producer born, raised and based in New York City. His short film, “Tadaima,” about a Japanese American Family returning home after the closure of the Japanese American Concentration Camps, screened worldwide at over forty film festivals including the Rhode Island Internal Film Festival, Hollyshorts, CAAMFest, the San Jose International Film Festival and the Los Angeles Asian American Pacific Film Festival. The film won Best Narrative Short at the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival and was featured in Comcast-Xfinity’s March 2018 Filmmaker Spotlight Series on X1 OnDemand.
His Produced works include Shawn Mendes’ music video, “Treat You Better,” about domestic violence; the video was nominated for a 2017 MTV Video Music Award and is ranked in the YouTube Top 50 All Time Viewed videos with over 1.5 Billion views. A former Zamboni and New York City Taxi Driver, Robin is a graduate of New York University and has a degree from the Tisch School of the Arts and the Stern School of Business. Robin is dedicated to making films of historical awareness, social impact, and commercial value.
